LimitState's geotechnical stability software, LimitState:GEO, features in October's issue of Ground Engineering Magazine, which includes the first installment of a two-part technical paper on the use of numerical methods for ultimate limit state design to Eurocode 7.

The article proposes a simple methodology for performing action / resistance factor design checks (such as employed in Eurocode 7 DA1/1 and DA2 and which are generally quite challenging to undertake).  LimitState:GEO is used to illustrate the application of the method with a series of examples.

The second part of the paper, which will appear in the November edition of Ground Engineering, develops a general purpose design procedure based on the methodology and applies it to a number of example problems.
